Thousands of people will come together on the National Mall tomorrow for the Reason Rally, described by the event’s coordinators as “the largest gathering of the secular movement in world history.”
Although I don’t see much point in gathering just to talk about how awesome science and rationality are (even though that’s true!), I hope that this event encourages understanding between believers and nonbelievers. People gather all around the world for religious reasons, so I guess it only makes sense that those without religion would do the same. With that said, there are some pretty cool people talking at the event, including Adam Savage of Mythbusters, Tim Minchin, and James Randi.
If I find any live feeds to the talks I’ll be sure to update this post with links. Even if you think secularism is the downfall of modern America, I encourage all of you to take a look at what’s going on at the event.
